Iman Shumpert Injury: Torn ACL, Meniscus, Out 6-8 Months

New York Knicks rookie Iman Shumpert went down with a left knee injury in the third quarter of the Knicks opening game against the Miami Heat. Shumpert was dribbling down the court when he attempted to quickly shift direction and immediately went down clutching his knee in extreme pain. He was carried from the court by Jerome Jordan and Josh Harrellson. Per Adrian Wojnarowski , further testing revealed a torn ACL and meniscus. Shumpert will obviously miss the rest of the playoffs and may not even be healthy in time for the Knicks 2013 training camp.

The Knicks lost to Miami 100-67, and they will certainly miss Shumpert's contributions going forward. The 21 year old rookie was averaged 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game in the regular season. He had struggled as much as anyone else in the opening game, managing no points, and only one rebound and one steal.
