The New York Knicks signed center Dan Gadzuric on Friday and waived guard Bill Walker (via ESPN NY).
The Knicks were looking for some playoff depth at the center position and waived Walker to make room for the veteran Gadzuric. Walker had originally came over to the Knicks from the Celtics during a 2010 trade. The Knicks needed to make a move because they will not have Jared Jefferies in the near future. Jefferies is battling a right knee injury.
The Dutch center Gadzuric has played for the Bucks, Warriors and Nets during his NBA career. Gadzuric averages 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.85 blocks and 14.8 minutes per game. Walker had averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 19.4 minutes per game for the Knicks this season in 32 games (eight starts). Walker missed five weeks before returning in April but couldn't find a spot in interim head coach Mike Woodson's lineup.
