Wow. I'm dumbfounded. I guess this lends a little more credence to suggestions that D'Antoni wasn't on the same page as his team? I guess this makes Mike Woodson head coach for now (Update: Yes.)? I guess we're about to put up with months of speculation as to who'll be the new coach? I guess tonight's game against the Blazers is going to be even more bizarre than we expected?

New York Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni resigned on Wednesday afternoon after realizing his coaching style did not mesh with superstar Carmelo Anthony, according to people familiar with the matter.

'Antoni plays an uptempo style that never quite suited Anthony since a trade that brought him to New York last February.

D'Antoni realized over the course of the last few weeks that Anthony was never going to play his style of play, a person familiar with the matter said. The coach met with Knicks interim general manager Glen Grunwald to relay his concerns, and proceeded to tell Knicks owner James Dolan of his feelings before determining the situation wouldn't work.
