Although Martin was released from his Chinese team months ago, his contract obligated him to wait until after the Chinese Basketball Association had finished to sign in the NBA. But sources told Wojnarowski an appeal to FIBA resulted in a letter of clearance that allows Martin out of his contract two weeks earlier than expected. Martin could survey his options and sign somewhere as early as this weekend.
Martin, a power forward who averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds last season in Denver, figures to draw plenty of free agent interest. Wojnarowski reports that he is visiting Atlanta Thursday and is also expected to entertain offers from the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Martin's agent told ESPN.com that the power forward has already received an offer from the Heat.
