A flurry of threes in the final minutes secured a 97-95 overtime victory for the New York Knicks over the crosstown-rival Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.

Steve Novak hit two from beyond the arc in overtime, accounting for all six of his points, then assisted on one from Mychel Thompson, whose triple with 44 seconds left proved to be the game winner. Thompson finished with 13 points.

Though this contest came down to the wire, neither team played at full strength. With the preseason winding down, Amar'e Stoudemire, Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby, Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith sat out for the Knicks. Jerry Stackhouse and Keith Bogans did not play for the Nets.

Deron Williams led all scorers with 22 points for Brooklyn. New Jersey native Chris Copeland led the Knicks with 16 points off the bench. Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton each added 15.

This was the final preseason game for both teams. The next time they take the court, it will be for real on Nov. 1 when they play each other in the first regular-season NBA game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
