Knicks vs. 76ers preview: Orange homecoming for Melo as Knicks head to Syracuse

The New York Knicks face off against the Philadelphia 76ers in Syracuse, where Carmelo Anthony won a national championship in his only season in college.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

Carmelo Anthony will take the court in the same place he played his college ball Monday night, as the New York Knicks head up to Syracuse for a preseason matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers in the Carrier Dome.

The Knicks will be without the services of Amar'e Stoudemire, who has a cyst on his knee and will be out for 2-3 weeks. Stoudemire has only played in one of the team's four preseason games, giving him precious little time to mesh with Anthony in the team's first full season with Mike Woodson as the head coach. He missed the first two games with a bone bruise in the same knee, played Friday night, and sat with most of the starters Saturday night against Boston. The resgular rotation besides Stoudemire will likely play, as they've had ample rest since their last outing.

The Knicks also have yet to play with Ronnie Brewer, Marcus Camby, or Rasheed Wallace. The major intrigue surrounding these games will probably be around who will take the team's 15th and final roster spot. Chris Copeland would appear to be the favorite after a really impressive 34-point outing against Boston.

The game will be on MSG at 7 p.m.
