Iman Shumpert Injury Update: Knicks' Rookie Could Return Wednesday

The return of New York Knicks rookie guard Iman Shumpert looks to be close. On Tuesday night, during the Knicks 90-85 loss to the Toronto Raptors, Shumpert spoke to MSG network's Tina Cervasio and admitted that progression of his injury (a sprained MCL) is coming along faster than he thought and he could return Wednesday when the New York hosts the Charlotte Bobcats (7:30 p.m. on MSG).

"I am feeling really good," said Shumpert. "Everyday I am getting treatment on it, two or three treatments a day. We got a great training staff here. The training staff has been all over me about keeping it straight, keep it elevated at night. I've been following everything they've been telling me. So far, we got good results."

"Today I did a lot, tomorrow we will see how it feels and day-by-day we will make a progression. I did a lot of cutting today, I actually did some dunking. I was surprised myself. I did a lot of moment today. So, It feels good."

During the Knicks' season-opening victory over the Boston Celtics, Shumpert sprained his MCL in the third quarter. The injury forced the Knicks to sign claim guard Jeremy Lin off waivers earlier in the month. The Knicks have really lacked depth at the guard position and the return of Shumpert will be a welcomed return for New York.
