Knicks Claim Derrick Brown Of Charlotte On Waivers

In another small piece of roster re-shuffling, the New York Knicks have claimed forward Derrick Brown off waivers from the Charlotte Hornets.

The Bobcats waived Brown last week, but the Charlotte Observer said the 23-year-old is a player they had hoped to re-sign.

Brown is a 6-foot-7, 225-pound swingman who was averaging 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 54.9 percent from the field in 41 games this season with Charlotte.

From the Charlotte website Rufus On Fire, via Posting and Toasting, here is a little scouting report on Brown.

What you need to know about Derrick Brown: when he gets the ball, he wants to get to the hoop. So he does. His jumper needs a lot of work

But he doesn’t take that many mid-long range jumpers. His defense is decent. It can be very good at times, especially man D.

As for rebounding, it’s not great. The Bobcats tried to play him at the 4 a good bit, which he doesn’t really have the size for.
