Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! Let's take our first look at the local sports landscape this morning.
↵NBA: Deron Williams will make his New Jersey Nets debut tonight. It will be a tall task for Williams and the new-look Nets as they will be in San Antonio to face the Spurs. The New York Knicks will be in Cleveland to face the woeful Cavaliers. Should be a nice warmup for Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Co. before Sunday's meeting in Miami with the Heat.
↵NHL: The New Jersey Devils try to continue their playoff push tonight when they travel to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. The New York Rangers are on the road against the Washington Capitals. By the way, the NHL trade deadline is just a few days away. Will any of the local squads make moves between now and then? If they do, SB Nation New York will tell you about them.
↵NFL: The New York Giants have begun talking contract extension with veteran coach Tom Coughlin, who is entering the last year of his current deal. Somehow, I don't think those negotiations will be very contentious. As for the New York Jets, well, Rex Ryan is just talking. The Jets coach again guaranteed his team will win the 2012 Super Bowl. Rex and Super Bowl guarantees are almost becoming a running joke. It is like part of his schtick, and he has to say it. He just can't help himself.
