The long and winding Carmelo Anthony trade road is finally coming to an end. It appears at the end of that road is Anthony being delivered to his preferred New York Knicks, as a trade between the Denver Nuggets and Knicks is "imminent", according to the Denver Post.
Anthony could not be asked about the trade Monday, as he was excused from Nuggets practice so he could be a guest on "Conan" with Conan O'Brien.
After the Knicks reportedly refused to include rookie center Timofey Mozgov in the deal, they seem to have backed down from that stance in order to finally get Anthony in New York.
In the end, New York will be giving up Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Mozgov, Eddy Curry and a first round pick. Coming back to the Knicks in addition to Anthony are Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter.
The New Jersey Nets failure (again) to land Anthony has GM Billy King and owner Mikhail Prokhorov heading back to the drawing board. Yahoo! Sports reports that the Nets will now consider several trades including sending Devin Harris and Troy Murphy to the Portland Trailblazers for Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla.
There is also the possibility that New Jersey will send two first round picks to Denver in return for either Gallinari, Felton or Chandler plus Mozgov.
