Earlier today, it seemed all but official that Carmelo Anthony would be headed to the New Jersey Nets, but as has been typical in the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors, things have changed rather quickly as it has now been reported that New York Knicks owner James Dolan met with Anthony Thursday evening.
Dolan met with Anthony late Thursday in Los Angeles, the New York Daily News reported, with a conference call involving Dolan, Knicks GM Donnie Walsh, Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke and Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri expected to be held sometime Friday evening.
According to the NYDN’s Frank Isola, “the hold up is the Knicks reluctance to include Danilo Gallinari in the trade. The Nuggets want three starters, including Raymond Felton, a No. 1 pick and Eddy Curry’s expiring contract.”
If the Knicks and Nuggets can’t agree to a deal, Anthony will then meet with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov.
The Nets are reportedly offering Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Melvin Ely and Renaldo Balkman.
Whatever happens, it seems the 'Melo-Drama' is about to come to a close.
