Good morning, New York sports fans! You are waking up to a morning on which things have changed dramatically in the American League East. That's because the Boston Red Sox shook up the Baseball Winter Meetings -- and the New York Yankees -- by signing superstar outfielder Carl Crawford to a seven-year, $142 million contract.
↵That leaves the Yankees without a good fallback option if they can't get pitcher Cliff Lee's name on a contract. Pretty obvious Lee's price tag just went up, and it's going to take what amounts to a bad, foolishly long contract to get him. The Yankees, though, appear to be left with little choice but to pay whatever it takes.

- Amare Stoudemire keeps piling up 30+ point games (he has six in a row) and the New York Knicks keep winning. A 113-110 victory over Toronto Wednesday was the Knicks' sixth straight victory and 11th in 12 games. ↵
- The New York Jets hope to rebound from Monday's loss to New England with a victory over Miami this Sunday. If they can do that, the could clinch a playoff berth. ↵
- The New York Giants appear to be getting healthier for the stretch run. A trio of injured players look ready to return to the lineup this weekend. ↵
