Patrick Ewing A Candidate For Charlotte Coaching Job

Larry Brown, whose vagabond coaching career has included pit stops with both the New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks, has resigned as head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. In his place could be former Knick superstar Patrick Ewing.

Ewing, currently an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic, Paul Silas and Mike Woodson are reportedly the leading candidates for the job. Ewing has been an assistant coach with the Magic since 2007.

Silas has been an NBA head coach four times and has a career record of 355-400. He was most recently head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2004-2005 season. Woodson coached the Atlanta Hawks for five seasons, compiling a 206-286 record. The Hawks went 53-29 last season, but Woodson was fired after the Hawks were eliminated by Orlando in the second round of the playoffs.

I have to admit I never saw Ewing as coaching material during his Hall of Fame playing career, and was surprised when he took the job with Orlando. I am even more surprised that he has stayed with it, and could wind up with a head coaching job.
