If you are a New York Knicks fan you had to be afraid something like this would happen. Coming off a pair of emotional losses at home to Eastern Conference powers Boston and Miami, the Knicks suffered an inevitable letdown on the road Saturday night, losing to the 8-19 Cleveland Cavaliers, 109-102, in overtime.
The Knicks (16-12) have now lost three consecutive games.
Mo Williams tied the game by scoring with 3.7 seconds left in regulation. He had 23 points and 14 assists, Antwan Jamison had 21 points and Anderson Varejao had 14 points and 17 rebounds for Cleveland. amare Stoudemire scored 23 points for New York, his second straight game under 30 points after a streak of nine consecutive 30-point games. Raymond Felton had 23 points and 11 assists for the Knicks.
The Cavaliers had lost 10 straight games prior to Saturday’s victory over the Knicks. New York has a couple of days off before hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
