The New York Jets' offense may have sputtered against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but more is expected from them this week as the majority of pickers expect them to beat the Miami Dolphins.
Both AFC East squads sit at 1-1 after taking a tough loss on the road and creaming an opponent at home. The Jets looked great to start against Pittsburgh last week, scoring a touchdown on their first drive, but the offense sputtered and New York was unable to score in the second half. Miami's win is more recent, as they handled the lowly Oakland Raiders last week behind a massive outing from Reggie Bush, but apparently that win isn't in fresh in the minds of those tasked with picking the game.
USA Today and Yahoo! both registered clean sweeps for the Jets by pickers, while nine of 12 at ESPN went with the Jets. (The three dissenters: Merril Hoge, Mike Ditka, and Ron Jaworski.) CBS was the most mixed of any national site, with three of eight pickers siding with Miami. ESPN and CBS' prediction algorithms were mixed, with ESPN's Accuscore picking the Dolphins and CBS' Prediction Machine going with the Jets, while both ESPN and Yahoo's pick'em pools sided with the Jets.
