Boomer Esiason Says Jets Should Cut Tim Tebow

On WFAN radio Monday, morning host and ex-NFL (and New York Jets) quarterback Boomer Esiason wasn't hiding his feelings about the Jets backup quarterback.

"I’m just telling you right now, I would (cut him), and I’ll tell you why I would," Esiason said to partner Craig Carton. "It’s not in any way, shape or form — I think — benefiting this team."

Esiason feels the team should cut Tim Tebow, due to the 1988 NFL MVP seeing him as little more than a distraction to Mark Sanchez.

"I just think this whole thing — at least from my perspective right now in relation to who Mark Sanchez is, your starting quarterback — is a major mistake," Esiason said.

Despite Tebow winning a playoff game after helping to guide the Denver Broncos into the playoffs, Esiason is far from impressed.

"You can say whatever you want about Tim Tebow," said Esiason. "He played some of the worst football that any quarterback has ever played in the history of the game last year at times."

The ex-Bengals, Jets and Cardinals signal-caller has been vocal about his feelings on Tebow's ability, and popular or not isn't backing off now.
