The New York Jets announced three roster moves on Wednesday. The Jets signed cornerback Devon Torrence and waived fullback Fui Vakapuna and safety Tracy Wilson.
Torrence (6-foot, 190 pounds) is an undrafted free agent who joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 for training camp. The Cincinnati Bengals picked up Torrence in Dec. 2011 but waived him in Jan. 2012. Torrence was a wide receiver at Ohio State before converting to defensive back.
Vakapuna was a Bengals seventh-round pick out of BYU in 2009. After the Bengals waived him following training camp, Vakapuna was picked up by the Arizona Cardinals before returning to the Bengals. He spent the 2010 season on injured reserve. The Bengals waived him last September. The Jets signed Vakapuna in May as a free agent.
Wilson joined the Jets in 2011 as a free agent out of Northern Illinois after he was not selected in the supplemental draft. He appeared in five games for New York last season, making five tackles in five games.
