Jeff Otah's tenure as a member of the New York Jets will go down as the shortest in organization history. That's because on Tuesday, the trade with the Carolina Panthers, which was suppose to send the offensive tackle to New York, was nullified because of a failed physical.
Per terms of the trade, Otah needed to pass a physical within seven days of reporting to the team last week. He failed his first physical upon arrival, but was optimistic on Monday that he would pass it.
The Jets, who were going to give up a conditional seventh-round pick, confirmed the News report that he didn’t pass it though.
The loss of Otah put the Jets in a shaky position on the offensive line, as Wayne Hunter will likely start the season at right tackle. Otha, if healthy, was suppose to challenge Hunter, who struggled at times last season, for the starting job.
