Jets' DT Muhammad Wilkerson Escapes Bad Car Accident Without Serious Injury, According To Report

New York Jets defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday but escaped serious injury, according to a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Mortensen reports that Wilkerson's car flipped over after colliding with another car on the Garden State Parkway early Saturday morning, but Wilkerson was lucky enough to avoid serious injury.

Wilkerson started all 16 games for the Jets last season during his rookie year out of Temple, registering 49 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble.

The 22-year old was the Jet's first pick, and the 30th overall, in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft after being named Temple's defensive MVP as a junior at the school.
