Rex Ryan Thinks Super Bowl Guarantees Were A Mistake

In three seasons as the head coach of the New York Jets, Rex Ryan sports a regular season record of 28-20 and 4-2 in the Playoffs. He took the team to back-to-back Conference Championships in his first two seasons, but is looked as a failure by some, because of his pre-season Super Bowl guarantees.

Ryan recently spoke with Michael Kay and Don La Greca on ESPN New York, and had this to say about his previous guarantees:

"I don't know what I accomplished out of it. I think if it gave an opponent fuel to the fire then obviously that was a mistake. If it put undue pressure on our team then that was a mistake."

And:

"It was shot on some of our players and obviously shot at me as well, where it should have been. But it wasn't directed at me, and I think that was my mistake by saying what I said."
