2012 NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets Select Melvin Ingram, OLB/DE, South Carolina

The New York Jets' vaunted defense could use another pass rusher. Melvin Ingram fits the mold.

In the National Football Post's latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft, Wes Bunting projects that the Jets will use the No. 16 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to select Ingram, an outside linebacker/defensive end from South Carolina.

Ingram has a great motor, is a high character kid and can get after the quarterback from a number of spots on a defensive front seven. He's the kind of "NFL ready" prospect the Jets would love to get in the middle of round one.

The National Football Post ranks Ingram the No. 14 on its NFL Draft Big Board, calling him in their scouting report "an impressive pass rusher who can get after the QB in a number of ways." Though some of Ingram's skills still need refinement, he's considered one of the best in this draft at wreaking havoc in the backfield.
