2012 NFL Draft Rumors, Round 2: Jets Looking At Wide Receiver On Day 2, According To Sources

A day after selecting former North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples with the No. 16-overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft, the New York Jets are rumored to be looking for a wide receiver with first pick on Friday. The Jets will be picking in the second round (No. 44 overall) and in the third round (No. 77 overall) on day two of the draft.

On Thursday, the Jets were rumored to possibly be eying Baylor wide out Kendall Wright, however, instead they took Coples. Entering the second round there are a few solid options at wide receiver, but the question is will any solid one be left when New York picks at No. 44.

Here's are a few options that the SB Naton's blog Mocking The Draft says could be available for the Jets:

  • Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
  • Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
  • Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
  • Rueben Randle, WR, LSU

Actually, Mocking The Draft has the Jets taking Sanu, who's from New Brunswick, NJ. Here's what they said about the 6-foot-2, 215-pound wide receiver.

47. New York Jets (Quinton Coples) – Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers - The Jets got a pass rusher in round 1 but they need to give Mark Sanchez another weapon. Sanu will give him a safety valve and a reliable receiver that he has lacked.
