In Mel Kiper's latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft, the ESPN analyst projects that the New York Jets will use the No. 16 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to select Michael Floyd, a wide receiver out of Notre Dame.
Though the Jets' hiring of Tony Sparano as offensive coordinator seems to indicate a renewed commitment to revisiting the ground-and-pound philosophy Rex Ryan loves, the Jets have limited talent in their current crop of wide receivers and could use a weapon for quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.
Kiper believes Floyd, a strong, fast, physical wideout who grabbed 100 catches for 1,147 yards for the Fighting Irish last season, would help New York right away.
In talking to Rex Ryan, I get the sense that he'll go with the best value available at a need spot. The Jets lack weapons in the passing game, and Floyd can contribute immediately.
