New York Jets Free Agency 2012: Peyton Manning, Mark Sanchez On Same Team Wouldn't Work, Says Tomlinson

With a possible chance of upgrading their position at quarterback via signing free agent Peyton Manning, the New York Jets need to figure out how to deal with incumbent signal-caller Mark Sanchez. Now, the Jets are a long-shot to sign Manning but if they do, former Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson says Sanchez would probably need to go.

"In my opinion, I don't know if he would handle it well," soon-to-be-free-agent RB LaDainian Tomlinson speculated regarding Sanchez's reaction to the potential acquisition of Manning during an NFL Network appearance on Wednesday.

"I think he would probably go in and maybe ask to be released because here is Mark Sanchez's gripe: 'I took you guys to two straight AFC Championship Games; yeah I didn't get it done last year, but my first and second year I took you to two AFC Championship Games. How can you turn around and just bring in another quarterback right now?'

Earlier on Monday, it was reported that the Jets have called Manning to see if he's interested in joining their franchise. Manning has said he does not know who or where he would like to go yet.
