Peyton Manning Rumors: Colts Will Reportedly Release QB, Could He Land With The Jets?

Peyton Manning will be released by the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, according to a report (via ESPN). The Colts have until 4 p.m. ET on Thursday to release the 14-year veteran quarterback.

Now that Manning, who turns 36 later this month, is going to be officially up for grabs, will the New York Jets try to sign him? Manning missed the entire 2011 season after undergoing his third neck surgery in 19 months. The four-time NFL MVP has began throwing again recently and fully intends on continuing his playing career, though opinions in the media vary as to whether Manning to the Jets makes sense.

Complicating the issue for the Jets is that quarterback Mark Sanchez is still under contract for the next two seasons. The front office has publicly said Sanchez is their guy, albeit while also saying they will look into every opportunity to get better.
