Tim Tebow Trade: Jets Trying To Trade Drew Stanton, According To Report

In the aftermath of the Tim Tebow trade, the New York Jets have reportedly placed backup quarterback Drew Stanton on the trading block.

AP sports writer Larry Lage reports that the Jets are trying to trade Stanton, likely per the quarterback's request.

Stanton, who signed with the Jets earlier this month, reportedly asked to be released or traded once he learned that the team had acquired Tebow from the Denver Broncos.

Tebow will presumably take over as Mark Sanchez' primary backup, a position Stanton thought was his when he signed with the Jets on March 16. Becoming a No. 2 quarterback was presumably a priority for Stanton when relocating from the Detroit Lions as a free agent, and just a week after landing in New York, he found himself relegated to third-string through no fault of his own.
