Tim Tebow Traded: New York Jets Acquire Tebow From Denver Broncos

Tebow Mania is headed to the New York Jets.

Tim Tebow was traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets on Wednesday, the Jets announced. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Jets gave up a fourth-round draft pick in exchange for the lefty quarterback.

Tebow, who led the Broncos to the playoffs and commandeered a Wild Card round upset of the Pittsburgh Steelers, became available when the Broncos inked Peyton Manning to a five-year deal this week. It was unclear whether Tebow ever won over John Elway, Denver's vice president of football operations, but he kept winning and the Broncos were prepared to move forward with Tebow as their starting quarterback until Manning hit the free agency market.

After signing Mark Sanchez to a contract extension recently, the Jets will likely use Tebow as a backup quarterback. But the team admitted earlier it was seeking a talented backup to put pressure on Sanchez, and acquiring Tebow certainly accomplished that.
