Jets Free Agency 2012: Chaz Schilens Signs With New York

The New York Jets announced Friday that the team has agreed in principle on a contract with wide receiver Chaz Schilens.

Schilens spent the 2011 season with the Oakland Raiders and caught 23 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. The 26-year old has spent four seasons in the NFL, all with the Raiders, registering 72 catches and 902 yards with seven career touchdowns.

Schilens, a seventh-round pick out of San Diego St. in 2008, is a natural fit in New York because he played with new Jets wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal in Oakland. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has both size and speed, but hasn't yet shown production to match the level of his impressive physical attributes.
