2012 NFL Mock Draft, New York Jets Prospect Profiles: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

Finally, a 2012 NFL Mock Draft for the New York Jets with a twist. SB Nation has selected Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd for the Jets with the 16th overall selection in its most recent mock draft, released Monday morning.

The standard fare for the Jets has been Alabama safety Mark Barron or linebackers Courtney Upshaw (Alabama) and Melvin Ingram (South Carolina) in most drafts. Going the wide receiver route to give quarterback Mark Sanchez an additional — and much-needed weapon — is definitely a changeup.

Is Floyd worthy of being selected that high?

SB Nation writes:

“Santonio Holmes’ opinion aside, the Jets could certainly use another receiver. Floyd is actually a pretty good complement to the Jets’ offense, giving them a big possession receiver with good hands and the ability to pick up yards after the catch. Floyd will also be useful in the red zone.”
