Jets Free Agency 2012: Braylon Edwards Return Is Possible

After bringing in Plaxico Burress instead of simply re-signing Braylon Edwards, the Jets made waves last offseason. Now, they're trying to go back in time according to the New York Daily News.

Edwards signed on with the San Francisco 49ers last season after not being retained by Mike Tannenbaum. Now, with the Jets in desperate need of a wide receiver, Edwards name is back in the mix.

It makes tons of sense for both parties. Edwards is looking for any work he can find after being cut by San Fran just before the 2011 playoffs. Conversely, New York needs a big-bodied playmaker for Mark Sanchez if he has any chance of justifying his draft slot.

The one factor that makes this a perfect marriage would be the contract. The Jets have virtually no money to spend, but could get Edwards on a cheap base salary loaded with incentives.

If Edwards comes back, it would be an interesting start to New York's free agency period.
