2012 NFL Mock Draft, New York Jets Prospect Profiles: Mark Barron Chosen For Jets

In the earliest 2012 NFL mock drafts at the conclusion of the college football season, Alabama safety Mark Barron was seemingly the consensus choice for the New York Jets with the 16th overall selection of the 2012 NFL Draft. That has changed in the past few weeks, as linebacker and offensive line have been suggested for Rex Ryan’s team.

Well, in its latest mock draft, released Monday, SB Nation has returned to Barron as the choice for New York.

SB Nation says Barron is the choice because of “significant safety concerns.”

Barron will not get to work out on Tuesday when defensive backs are tested during the NFL Scouting Combine. He is recovering from double hernia surgery.

The Jets could be in the market for a new safety as Jim Leonhard has now finished consecutive seasons on injured reserve.
