Jets Free Agency 2012: Aaron Maybin To Receive First-Round Tender, According To Report

The New York Jets are expected to place a first-round tender on restricted free agent outside linebacker Aaron Maybin, according to a New York Daily News report. The tender will likely be valued between $2.5-2.75 million.

Maybin will then have the option of signing the one-year tender, or he can also test free agency. But the Jets retain the the option to match any contract he is offered; and if they don't, they will receive a first-round pick from whichever team signs Maybin.

The Buffalo Bills 2009 first-round draft pick (No. 11 overall), Maybin broke out with the Jets after two silent years in Buffalo. He registered six sacks in 13 games with New York in 2011 after being held without a sack for each of his first two seasons with the Bills.
