Rex Ryan has reached back into his crystal ball of brash comments.
The New York Jets coach did not make any direct guarantees Wednesday during an interview with the Daily News, but he did mention that he does not expect to wait much longer for his first Super Bowl win as a head coach.
"I'm the only one (in my family) with only one Super Bowl ring," Ryan said, alluding to the ring he won as a defensive line coach with the 2000 Ravens. "But I'm planning on getting another one, and I'm planning on getting it quickly."
Ryan praised Mark Sanchez, calling him an "ascending" quarterback, and did not respond to questions about Peyton Manning, citing league rules designed to keep coaches from commenting on players under contract with another team.
The Jets coach also discussed this past season, which began with Super Bowl hopes but ended with the 8-8 Jets missing the playoffs.
"We got some scars this year from this," Ryan said. "Anybody who doesn't have scars is either lying to you or never dared. One thing about us: We dare. We put it out there - I put it out there - that we want to be great."
