2012 NFL Mock Draft, New York Jets: Mark Barron, S, Alabama

The latest Sports Illustrated 2012 NFL Mock Draft has the New York Jets picking Alabama safety Mark Barron with the 16th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Barron helped Alabama's record-setting defense contribute to a national championship, pitching in 63 tackles, 1.0 sacks and two interceptions. He is listed as the 26th-best prospect in Mocking The Draft's 100 Top NFL Draft Prospects list, and the site describes him as "a classic low-ceiling, high-floor prospect who probably won't be a major player in the NFL."

The National Football Post's 2012 NFL Draft Big Board rates Barron as the 12th-best prospect. The site notes that Barron "has the makings of a heck of a special teams player who can attack downhill, play inside the box and drive on the football in front of him in the pass game. Isn't going to be a threat turning and tracking the football, but his improved instincts makes me think he can start in the league."
