The New York Jets continued shuffling their roster on Sunday. The Jets placed quarterback Greg McElroy on injured and waived three players, including former Buffalo first-round pick Aaron Maybin, a linebacker.
The Jets also claimed four players on waivers. They are wide receiver Mardy Gilyard (St. Louis), offensive lineman Colin Baxter (San Diego), quarterback Kevin O’Connell (Miami) and safety Andre Sendejo (Dallas).
McElroy, a rookie seventh-round pick, was 36-for-59 (61 percent) in the preseason with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Maybin had been released earlier in the preseason by the Buffalo Bills, and was given an opportunity by the Jets.
The Jets also added seven players to their practice squad: They are:
Josh Baker (TE), Matthias Berning (LB), Trevor Canfield (G), Jarron Gilbert (DT), Matt Kroul (OL), Julian Posey (CB), Patrick Turner (WR).
NFL teams can have as many as eight players on their practice squad, so the Jets can still add another player.
