New York Jets Injury Update: Mark Sanchez Breaks Nose, Antonio Cromartie Hurt

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez suffered what the team is calling a “minor break” to his nose during the Jets 34-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie also reportedly suffered a bruised lung and ribs. As previously reported, reserve tight end Jeff Cumberland tore his Achilles Tendon. He has been placed on injured reserve.

“I think it’s probably minor to everybody else (Sanchez’s broken nose), probably more than that to him. If we had our nose broken, we would probably think it was more than minor,” said Jets coach Rex Ryan.

Sanchez likely won’t be modeling for any magazine covers in the near future, but it does not seem likely he will miss any time.

Ryan said Cromartie is “day-to-day.” The coach also said center Nick Mangold, who missed Sunday’s game against Oakland with a high ankle sprain is “probably day-to-day.” Mangold’s status for Sunday will be determined later this week.
