Nick Mangold will not play Sunday for the New York Jets when the travel to California to face the Oakland Raiders. That news had been expected since the Pro Bowl center did not practice this week due to a high ankle sprain, but the Jets waited until today to make it official.
"He’s just not ready. That’s as simple as that," said Jets coach Rex Ryan.
Mangold has started 82 consecutive games.
For the Raiders, former New York Giants tight end Kevin Boss is expected to make his season debut. He is listed as "probable" after having missed the first two games of the season with a knee injury.
