Eric Mangini To Penn State? That's Not A Good Idea

Is Penn State University actually desperate enough to find a new head football coach that it would turn to former New York Jets coach Eric Mangini? Apparently so, as the school is reportedly "very interested" in the two-time failure as an NFL head coach.

↵

Has it really come to this for Penn State? The Nittany Lions are apparently being turned away by just about any name coach they have reached out to, and have now apparently turned their eyes toward Mangini as they try to replace Joe Paterno, fired due to the Jerry Sandusky sexual assault scandal.

Mangini has a 33-47 record in stints with the Jets and Cleveland Browns,

Before Penn State hires the one-time 'Man-Genius,' officials there should read Joe Posnanski's September, 2009 article in Sports Illustrated calling Mangini "the worst NFL head coach hire in 25 years."

↵

Among other things Posnanski, one of the best sports columnists on the planet, calls Mangini a "pompous know-it-all who doesn't feel like he should have to explain to the commoners what he's doing."

↵

Is this really what it comes to for Penn State? Is that the best the school can do?
