Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for a touchdown dance Sunday that mocked New York Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress, a source told the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Johnson did not confirm that he had been fined at the team's practice, noting that he had received an overnight envelope from the NFL and left it unopened.
"If I do, I get fined. But we've got to move on," he said. "It's the Tennessee Titans. I'm not really worried about a fine right now. It's part of the game. People get fined. But we've still got a football game on Sunday."
After scoring a touchdown with a little more than two minutes remaining in the second quarter of Sunday's 28-24 Bills loss to the Jets, Johnson pretended to shoot himself in the thigh, using his hand as a gun. The choreographed celebration was designed to mimic Burress, who was arrested for shooting himself in 2008.
