After two straight losses to fall back to .500, the New York Jets return to the field Sunday for an important divisional matchup with the Buffalo Bills. (1 p.m. ET, CBS). Both teams are 5-5.
Coach Rex Ryan understands his team needs to start winning and to do so quickly. They are currently one game behind Cincinnati for the final AFC wild card, but a 4-5 conference record that's worse than any other contender could hurt the Jets in a tiebreaker.
But Ryan also believes - and New York's past two seasons support his theory - that the way the Jets prepare allows the team to thrive in the latter parts of the season.
"The good thing about this football team is everything we do is set up to get our team to be at their best at the end of the season, and here we are. There are six games left. There are no excuses. We're sitting here. We've earned that 5-5 record, but we're focused on what is in front of us. We better get it done. We better get it done in a hurry," Ryan said.
