Jets-Patriots Third Quarter Update: Patriots Expand Lead, 23-9

The New England Patriots lead the New York Jets, 23-9, after three quarters of their Sunday Night Football Game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Patriots expanded their lead in the third quarter with some big plays from quarterback Tom Brady. The Patriots second drive of the quarter was for 91 yards before settling for a Gostkowski field goal putting. This put them ahead 16-9.

Mark Sanchez threw an interception that was tipped twice before settling in the hands of Ninkovich. Brady had great field position to work with leading his team down the field passing the ball 34 yards. Kevin Faulk added seven yards on the ground. The drive ended with Brady tossing the ball to Ron Gronkowski down the middle. Gronkowski was penalized 15 yards for spiking the ball in the face of the Jets' safety.

The Jets took the great field position and drove the ball down to the Patriots seven-yard line before time ran out in the quarter.
