New York Jets Injury Update: LaDainian Tomlinson OK, D-Line Hurting

The New York Jets got a big win against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, beating AFC West-leading San Diego 27-21 in East Rutherford, N.J. to move above .500. Here's a quick look at updates on the Jets injury situation.

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson had to come out of the game, but head coach Rex Ryan said it's nothing to worry about.

LT had an illness that started before the game. It looked like a car coming in, NASCAR coming in. He was getting four tires and gas and everything else. You had everybody in the world working on him. It got him through most of the game but he couldn’t finish it. It was just an illness thing.

One area in which the Jets are hurting is on the defensive line. Rookie DT Kenrick Ellis left the field with an ankle injury in the first half quarter and did not return. It's not certain how much time he will miss.

Here's Ryan on the Jets run defense.

The big guy came out in the first series, big Kenrick Ellis, with an ankle. Harris (LB David Harris) had an ankle. That was something I was really proud of our defense (for). We had a couple of defensive linemen out, with DeVito (DE Mike DeVito) and Kenrick and our guys stepped up. When David went down it seemed like our headset was down for a little bit too. We were having a tough time communicating.

The Jets also missed linebacker David Harris, who left in the first half with an ankle injury. Harris re-entered the game in the second half.
