The New York Jets got off to a rough start in the first quarter of the week seven match up against the San Diego Chargers. On the fourth play of the opening drive, Mark Sanchez passed to Dustin Keller for a four yard gain. Keller fumbled and the ball was recovered by Donald Butler who returned the ball for 37 yards and the touchdown.
On their second drive, the Jets put together seven plays to bring the ball downfield. The drive was filled with penalties from both sides. Ultimately, the Jets had to settle for a Nick Folk field goal from 35 yards out. The Chargers first drive was three and out.
The Jets next drive moved the ball well but Mark Sanchez threw an interception deep in Chargers territory. The Chargers moved the ball downfield to the Jets 46 yard line as the quarter came to a close with the Chargers up 7-3.
