New York Jets coach Rex Ryan took the blame for this week's controversy with San Diego Chargers coach Norv Turner, admitting he wished the war of words had never happened. That being said, Ryan is still not very worried about anybody's opinion.
"I did ask Norv if I needed to wear a helmet [to Sunday's game]," Ryan said, according to a tweet by Jane McManus.
While Ryan regrets taking a shot at Turner, he is more concerned with what happens on the field.
"I'd love to be respected by my peers and things like that but I just want to win," Ryan said, according to a tweet by Ian Begley.
On Wednesday Ryan said he would have "a couple of rings" if he had coached the talented San Diego teams Turner has been blessed with.
Turner fired right back at Ryan.
"I was wondering if he had those rings with the ones he's guaranteed the last couple of years," Turner said.
Ryan's initial comments were taken by some as a slap to his current team. But Ryan told reporters Thursday he wouldn't trade this Jets team for anybody.
