One day after Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall said he plans to get kicked out of Miami's Monday Night AFC East showdown against the New York Jets, Jets coach Rex Ryan fired back at Marshall.
"If Marshall wants to get kicked out in the second quarter, he should," Ryan said, according a tweet by ESPN's Mike Mazzeo.
On Thursday, Marshall said he planned to play "like a monster" Monday night, might get into a fight with Jets linebacker Bart Scott, and plans to get kicked out of the game by the middle of the second quarter.
One reporter asked Marshall if he was joking about being kicked out. (Via the South Florida Sun Sentinel)
"No, I'm not joking. I'm serious," he said. "They're going to fine me. It's probably going to be like a $50,000 fine. But that quarter and a half that I'm out there, I'm going to play like a monster. I might get in a fight with Bart Scott. [Antonio] Cromartie, we pretty much matured our relationship and grew a little bit. We used to fight in Denver and San Diego. If that happens, it happens, so we'll see."
