Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 6: Jets Edition

The Jets offer some good fantasy football plays this week as they face a bad Miami defense.

The Jets are in as close of a must-win situation as you can be in Week 6, as they host the rival Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football looking to creep back up to .500. The 2011 fantasy football season is chugging along and entering some important weeks. If you have any Jets on your team, you've probably been pretty annoyed at their output. New York's offense has ranged anywhere from inconsistency to ineptness. This week, the Dolphins should offer a quick fix with their 28th ranked defense. Last week, the Jets were rightly criticized for not attacking the Patriots' weak pass defense, so you'd think the Jets would like to answer a lot of those critics this week as again they go up against a weak unit.

Here is your Week Six fantasy football start/sit Jets edition. As always, we use numberFire projections in our analysis:

Start

RB - Shonn GreenenumberFire projection: 10.9 attempts, 48.37 yards, 0.32 TDs, 8.72 fantasy points

I think you have to start Shonn Greene this week. He showed some progress (albeit slow) last week against the Patriots, and I think the Jets will try again to establish a ground game. I think the 11 carry projection here is criminally low. They'll go with Greene early and often, and if they open up a big lead at any point, the Jets will return to the ground game. I think he's a good play this week, and it could be his best week to date.

WR - Santonio Holmes - numberFire projection: 4.06 receptions, 57.96 yards, 8.41 fantasy points

Santonio Holmes against the Dolphins' secondary? Sure. I think he find the end zone for the second week in a row.

Jets' Defense - numberFire projection: 21.67 points, 3.66 sacks, 2.68 turnovers, .31 TDs, 10.81 fantasy points

The top ranked defense of the week according to the numberFire projections. We saw what the Jets' defense did at home to another backup quarterback in Week 2 against Jacksonville and Luke McCown. And while it may not be as bad for Matt Moore, it won't be pretty. The Jets defense is ticked off and has a deer in the headlights across the line of scrimmage. Expect some turnovers, sacks, and few points allowed.

QB - Mark Sanchez  - numberFire projection: 20.82 completions, 234 yards, 1.44 TDs, 15.06 fantasy points

You probably have a better quarterback than Sanchez on your roster, but if you're on a bye week and need to use your backup, Sanchez is a good play this week. The Jets won't let their passing game go underused against a bad secondary for the second week in a row.

Sit

WR - Plaxico Burress - numberFire projection: 2.87 receptions, 44.95 yards, 0.30 TDs, 6.45 fantasy points

Until Sanchez and Plaxico Burress develop a better chemistry, you should pass on Burress.

TE - Dustin Keller - numberFire projection: 3.88 receptions, 41.43 yards, 0.27 TDs, 5.74 fantasy points

It's become an annual happening for Keller to completely disappear for four or five weeks at a time. It seems like we're in the middle of the 2011 version of it right now. Pass until the Jets prove they remember he can catch the ball.
