NFL Predictions, Week 16: Jets, Giants Get My Vote

Well, it's time for Ed's mysterious NFL predictions for Week 16 of the NFL season. I am sort of like the New York Giants this week. Last week was a rough one for my crystal ball, as I went just 1-4 to slide below .500 at 19-21 since I started making these predictions. So, like the Giants, I need to come back strong this weekend.

So, let's get to it. As always, I will pick the New York Jets and Giants games, and three others. Let's see if I can do a little better this time around.

New York Jets (+2) at Chicago: The Bears are 10-4 and they are at home, so that makes this a formidable challenge for the Jets. Chicago, though, clinched a playoff berth and the NFC North division title last week. The Jets are still playing to punch their ticket to the dance, and even with Mark Sanchez having a damaged wing I am going with the Jets more. They need this game, and the Bears really don't. Pick: Jets

New York Giants (+3) at Green Bay: The Giants' loss to Philadelphia last Sunday was a crushing one for Giants fans everywhere. More importantly, it took away the team's margin for error when it comes to getting to the playoffs. In the Tom Coughlin era the Giants have almost always responded well to adverse circumstances, and this qualifies. The Giants are in the playoffs if they win. If they lose the game, they also lose control of their playoff destiny. I think the Giants get what they need here. I have to believe it. Pick: Giants

Seattle at Tampa Bay (-6): I really don't like either one of these teams, both of which need the game to have any shot at the playoffs. I don't know who wins, but for me six points is too much here. Pick: Seahawks

San Diego (-7) at Cincinnati: The Chargers are rolling, making their annual late-season charge. The Bengals are awful and just playing out the string. Pick: Chargers

Baltimore (-3) at Cleveland: This is another one of those case where the Ravens are a playoff team still fighting for position, and the Browns are just playing out the string. Cleveland seemingly always plays hard, but I have to go with with Baltimore here. Pick: Ravens
