Grading Out Jets/Bengals

Let's get this out of the way, so we can shift the focus to the biggest Jets/Patriots regular game season...probably ever.

Quarterback (C+) It was pretty clear this wasn't Mark Sanchez's night. He struggled with accuracy and had a bad interception. However, he did have a few nice passes down the seam and overall did enough for the Jets to win. He will need a better performance next week against the Patriots.

Running Backs (B) A solid night for Shonn Greene with 70 yards on 18 carries. LaDainian Tomlinson chipped in 63 total yards and has now had less carries than Greene the previous 3 games.

Wide Receivers (B+) Brad Smith made the play of the night with his 53 yard touchdown run on a reverse. Santonio Holmes added another touchdown. Braylon Edwards had one of his quietest games of the year. How many illegal blocking or holds or going to be called on him this year?

Tight Ends (A-) A good night of blocking for this group, including Matthew Mulligan who played extended reps. Dustin Keller was more involved with 4 receptions for 49 yards.

Offensive Line (A-) Hard to complain about this unit. They did allow Sanchez to be sacked twice but they were more of a result of him holding to the ball too long.

Defensive Line (B+) Very good against the run as usual and Trevor Pryce provided a big play with a safety. Vernon Gholston had a quarterback pressure for the second week in a row....wow.

Linebackers (A) A very active night for this group. Calvin Pace and David Harris both recorded sacks. Bart Scott had a tackle for a loss. Jason Taylor had two pass deflections and actually provided decent pressure throughout the game.

Secondary (A) Darrelle Revis is definitely back after an impressive November. Antonio Cromartie pulled in his third interception of the season and did a good job on Chad Ochocinco. Jim Leonhard had his first interception of the season.

Special Teams (A) The breakdowns were outweighed by the big plays, thanks to Brad Smith's return for a touchdown and James Ihedigbo's big fumble recovery.

Coaching (A) It is nights like this, you should be happy somebody like Marvin Lewis isn't our coach.
