Rex Ryan wishes he stayed quiet about Tim Tebow's role

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan regrets saying that he might expand Tim Tebow's role with the offense. Ryan said on Oct. 29 following the Jets Week 8 loss to the Miami Dolphins that they'd use the bye week to consider ways to expand Tebow's role with the team. On Wednesday, Ryan wished that he hadn't said anything, saying, "it probably wasn't the smartest thing, me coming out with that statement."

Ryan added that he wouldn't share his plans for how the Jets were going to use Tebow going forward, whether it be in an increased role, the same amount, or less.

There has been constant talk coming out of New York that Tebow will become more involved in the offense, but at this point he has only played 60 snaps through eight games. Tebow is 2-for-3 passing for 32 yards and has carried the ball 23 times for 78 yards.

The Jets (3-5) take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
