NFL Power Rankings, Week 12: Jets move up after snapping streak, still below No. 20

The New York Jets showed positive indicators in a win over the St. Louis Rams, but the quality of the opponent and the team's three-game losing streak before the loss mean they're below No. 20 in most power rankings.

A convincing win for the New York Jets over the St. Louis Rams was enough to bump them up in many power rankings, although they still find themselves at No. 20 or below in most lists.

The Jets snapped out of a funk that had seen them lose three straight, with Mark Sanchez completing 75 percent of his passes and the defense holding St. Louis to only 13 points while forcing three turnovers. That saw the Jets tick up in most rankings about four or five spots. But it's just a win over the Rams, and there's still problems surrounding a team that's 4-6 and running out of time to make an improbable run to the playoffs. For Joel Thorman of SB Nation, the team showed some resolve, but it doesn't mean they're worth placing very high, as he put them at No. 22 in his Week 13 NFL Power Rankings:

Credit Rex Ryan for getting the Jets together to beat the Rams. This team looked like a disaster from the outside looking in, and maybe they are. They have their backs against the wall now.

That's about where most rankings have them: ESPN also has the Jets at No. 22, while CBS and Fox put the Jets at No. 20, while NFL.com was most pessimistic putting New York at No. 25.
